Improving your Financial Literacy

The National Financial Literacy Strategy is led by the Australian Securities and Investments Commission (ASIC). One of its aims is to improve the financial wellbeing of Australians by advancing their financial literacy.

The research makes a fascinating read. Some of the highlights from its most recent survey are:

  • 3 out of 5 Australians feel confident when it comes to managing their money
  • On the other hand, 36% felt that dealing with money is stressful and overwhelming
  • 24% believe that nothing they do makes much of a difference to their financial situation
  • 21% have difficulties understanding financial matters
  • And an astonishing 15% are too busy to sort out their finances at the moment

Around budgeting, there were also some interesting observations:

  • Most people (8 out of 10) had a budget within the past 6 months
  • Although only 23% always stick with their budget

At Fincoach Direct, Financial Literacy is what we do. We show you how to manage your money, how (and why!) you would want to set a budget and how easy it is to stick with it.
